Using raised beds for optimum vegetable and fruit production, and to dramatically reduce weeding in the gardening is the thrust of this visit. Providing 5 vegetable and fruit servings per person each day is easily achievable in the home landscape using raised gardening beds and through planting fruiting trees and bushes. Professor Melby will also demonstrate using the Food Servings calculator that computes how many food servings will be produced according to the homeowners garden plan. Food gardens can produce thousands of food servings in the spring, summer, and fall garden.
